Warm winter brunch at Vogel’s

Before i visited Dunedin, I’ve heard about Vogel’s Street Kitchen and it was literally my first stop after I landed there in the morning. The interior is beautiful and spacious and I LOVED every bit of the retro and artsy vibe that the furniture, lighting and layout was screaming at me.

Their cabinet was full of scrumptious looking treats that were extremely eye-catching. The sizes of their bakings (scones, muffins etc.) were all jumbo in size for the price that they charge and looked super delectable.

We ordered some brunch dishes from the menu as well as a few of those irresistible cabinets treats to share. Because why not? Then after we finally set foot to try and find a table, we found that they have an upstairs area!

I loved the space upstairs even more as you can fully soak up the winter sun from the giant glass drop down windows and really there isn’t a perfect place to stay for brunch. They also have a couch and fire place and the place is just cosy as!

We started with a flat white (typical Annie :p) and a cinnamon scroll heated up with butter.IMG_3025.JPG

Oh MY, the cinnamon bun was so delicious. Each bite was sensational with the taste of velvety butter melted on slightly crispy pastries with sweet cinnamon sugar in the middle…ah it’s worth the calories!

Then mum’s Vogel’s breakfast stack arrived and it was basically an upgraded version of your eggs bene. Potato rosti, fresh spinach leaves, salmon, poached eggs and pesto AND tomato relish on the top – can’t beat it!

We also had a vegetarian filo pastry as it brought back memories to when I first learnt how to make a filo pastry back in year 8! It’s been so long and surprisingly I actually haven’t seen those bad boys in Auckland cafes for a while.

Finally, my dish arrived and you can see that I’m a HAPPY girl (yes spelt out with CPAS haha)

The porridge was a cinnamon and poached pear (hidden underneath) with coconut milk and maple syrup. The porridge was sweet already so i didn’t use the syrup at all, however, I did add the coconut milk to dilute it a bit. Although the milk was sweet rather than just light with a subtle coconut taste which was what I expected. Nevertheless, it was a great meal and we all left feeling recharged after a short flight and ready to discover the city and its wonders! ❤ Thank you Vogel’s and see ya next time!
